I purchased YKG in 1991 from Tony Lins of Deloraine. He had purchased the aircraft from Virden Aviation and subsequently restored and recovered it. I wanted an airplane that was versatile and fun to fly and the Citabria fits the bill perfectly. YKG is semi-aerobatic. It has no inverted fuel & oil system so cannot sustain inverted flight. Loops, rolls, spins, hammerheads etc. are all well within its capabilities. I do not regularly practice aerobatics, although I have taken 5 hours of aerobatic instruction (under the tutelage of Dave Stacey) for the purpose of becoming more familiar with the airplane's limitations and capabilities.
YKG has a Lycoming O235-C1 engine that produces 115 HP. The 7ECA model does not have flaps so one becomes proficient at side-slipping. It is an enjoyable airplane to fly and has given me many hours of good fun. John Williams |
