C-IHJX is a 2006 BRM Landafrica which is a 2 place side by side all metal STOL aircraft manufactured in Portugal and sold in kit form or factory built. I ordered the kit in June of 2006 and by September of that year begin to assemble the aircraft in my garage. The manufacture prides itself in stating that one can build this aircraft without having to leave your shop as everything is included in the kit down to the last bolt and clamp. The kit was ordered with optional dual stick and electric flaps and a panel mounted Xcom radio and AvMap GPS were added.
The aircraft was completed in February of 2007 and registered as an AULA (Advanced Ultra light Aircraft) and first flown on March 30, 2007.
The aircraft has a MTOW of 1232 pounds with a useful load of 550 pounds. It cruises along comfortably at 85 to 90 miles per hour with a fuel burn of around four gallons per hour.
I have since logged over 300 hours on this aircraft and it has provided me with many memorable flights including Fly-ins, burger runs with my wife, and fishing trips to Ontario on skis. I would like to equip the airplane with amphibious floats to add another dimension the thrill of flying which so few of us are privileged to experience.
